The Pre-Session
The best way to ensure a successful portrait session is through good planning. I make it easy with a personal consultation in your home or favorite coffee shop. We’ll get together and coordinate the details for timing and location of your session.
It’s also an ideal time to discuss your specific goals. Are you looking for a large portrait for over the fireplace? A photo collage to line the stairwell wall? Updated portraits to send as gifts to other family members? A few photos for a save-the-date card or other milestone announcement? You’ll have a chance to view my studio samples if you’re undecided and need some inspiration.
I’m always glad to offer guidance for the style of the shoot, wardrobe selection, location suggestions, and the best ways to get the most from your beautiful new family portraits.
Don’t stress about any details!
During the Session
Relax. We’re going to have fun. During the session, your family sets the pace and tone. You’ll never be rushed. I’ll combine gently posed shots along with spontaneous, unguarded moments as they happen. But most importantly, my priority is to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
As I photograph you, I’ll give guidance and tips for how to stand to achieve the most flattering looks, set you up in pleasing group poses, and even tell silly jokes and dance to get the shy kiddos to smile. I always try keep the vibe fun and relaxed, and am always flexible based on how everyone is feeling. Have no worries if someone needs a break for snacks or outfit changes.
The casual tone of the session allows everyone to simply be themselves in front of my camera. That’s when the magic happens.
After Your Session
Your reveal and ordering session is scheduled 2 to 3 weeks after your session. Here you will view your printed proofs of the best images I’ve selected from the session. You pick your favorites, and put together your order for prints, canvases, albums, and more to showcase your new family portraits.
At the end of the reveal session, you’ll have a fully custom order of your photos exactly to your liking. Every detail will have your personal touch and your products will be as unique as you are! Your products generally arrive within about six weeks of your order. It’s time to fall in love with your portraits all over again.
